Scope of Accreditation

Elizabeth McCalley

Elizabeth is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Mechanical, Aerospace and Engineering Science Department within the College of Engineering at The University of Tennessee in 2006. During her time at UT, Elizabeth competed for the Lady Volunteer cross country and track and field teams. She earned All SEC and All South Region honors in cross country and was also an instrumental part in the team winning back to back SEC championships. On the track, Elizabeth earned All SEC honors in her junior and senior seasons in the 3000m steeplechase, and also holds the UT school record in this event. Academically, Elizabeth was, and still is, interested in biomechanics and running shoe design and was allowed to conduct an independent study in this field in 2006.

After graduating, Elizabeth volunteered part time at SIRC before going to work for a world recognized manufacturer of wrestling and gymnastics flooring as an ASTM Test Engineer. Elizabeth’s duties included researching and designing new products used in wrestling, gymnastics, and cheerleading, conducting the testing of current product in accordance with ASTM standards, and designing a test laboratory for the manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

At SIRC Elizabeth continues her role in product testing, development, failure analysis and performance improvement. She works with NOCSAE, NAERA, ASTM and ISO standards and guidelines and is an instrumental part of the A2LA audit and quality program at SIRC.
